Storage Tips
- Use smaller boxes for books and heavy items.
- Use larger boxes for lighter items.
- Reinforce the bottom of boxes with at least one strip of packing tape.
- Seal boxes tightly with wide packing tape.
- Label boxes on all sides (including top and bottom) for easy identification.
- Make sure fragile boxes are placed on top of heavier, less delicate boxes.
- Use valuable space inside drawers and larger appliances to store small items.
- Break down large items and keep all parts (screws and smaller items) together by taping them to the item in a plastic bag.
- Wrap furniture legs with protective bubble wrap, furniture covers or pads to prevent scratching.
- Place frequently accessed items toward the front of your unit.
- Place less frequently needed items toward the rear of your unit.
- Leave space between items to promote air flow.
- Pallets are available to keep items off the floor.
- Do not store anything flammable (such as paint and chemicals).
- Do not store perishable food items or outdoor grills.
- Drain any fluids prior to storing snowblowers, lawnmowers, and other equipment.
- Do not store hazardous or combustible materials.
- Purchase a secure, high-quality lock.
